Safety Rules and Regulations PDF Print E-mail

SAFE! SAFE! SAFE!

This is a word you will hear us repeat constantly. While we want everyone to have a fun time, the most important thing is that everyone has a safe experience. The 1Day Relay is run on an open course – this means that you will be exposed to cars, trucks, dogs and people who all may not be paying complete attention to you.

Wherever possible, we have designed the course to take advantage of sidewalks, running paths and trails. However, in certain locations runners will be required to run in bike lanes or the shoulder of the road. To ensure your safety please obey the following rules and guidelines:

  1. Run against traffic.
Runners should always run against traffic and outside the marked roadway unless the course map or roadside signs indicate otherwise.
  2. Obey all traffic laws.
Remember you are on an open course. Please follow all traffic laws. Only cross the street in approved and signed areas. If you come to a red light, stop. When it turns green you may proceed.
  3. No headphones please!
Since you are running on an open course, you need to be aware of your surroundings. Blasting the Black Eyed Peas, AC/DC or even Beethoven limits your ability to hear ambient noise.

A complete list of rules and regulations are included in the Race Manual.

Be smart and be safe!
